Reaching by road to all four\u00a0Dhams is long journey , difficult treks at<strong>\u00a0Yamunotri<\/strong> and <strong>Shri Kedarnath<\/strong> , road journey from<strong>\u00a0Joshimath<\/strong> to <strong>Shri Badrinath<\/strong> is very tiring . The opening of Helicopter services to all these places have cut down the journey from 12 days to 2-3 days it is a boon for the old aged and people with time constrain can fulfill their wishes.<br \/>\n<img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/farm7.staticflickr.com\/6118\/6261215160_2d8742670c.jpg?resize=500%2C375\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" \/><br \/>\nThe helicopter used in this tour were state of art <strong>BELL407<\/strong>\u00a0four seater along with the Pilot\u00a0and Flight Engg. From <strong>Dehradun\u00a0Sahstrdhara <\/strong> helipad, it takes 35 minutes flight to <strong>Kharsali<\/strong> , helipad is on the left bank of river <strong>Yamuna<\/strong> there is no motor able road from helipad one is to walk across the foot bridge to reach <strong>Janki Chatti<\/strong>, from <strong>Janki Chatti<\/strong> there is a 6 km. steep trek one is to climb from<strong> 2650 meters<\/strong>\u00a0to reach Yamunotri temple at a height of <strong>3293 meters<\/strong>, one can take a horse or Palanquins a chair which is carried by four porters . One can perform the puja and return to <strong>Janki Chatti<\/strong> and then crossed the river to helipad at <strong>Kharsali<\/strong> in 4 to 5 hours. There is a oldest <strong>Lord Shani Dev temple<\/strong>\u00a0at Kharsali which is constructed like a <strong>fort<\/strong> made of stones and wood it is also called the <strong>Someshwer temple<\/strong> .<br \/>\n<img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" to<strong>\u00a0Harsil<\/strong>\u00a0is of 30 minutes located at a height of 2623 meters from sea level , Harsil the <strong>Maha\u00a0Prayag<\/strong> of nine rivers in to <strong>Bhagirathi<\/strong>\u00a0and a temple didicated to<strong> lord Vishnu<\/strong>, place where <strong>lord Vishnu<\/strong> is in form of <strong>Shaligram <\/strong>at the confluence of river <strong>Jalandhari , Vishnu Ganga<\/strong> and <strong>Bhagirathi<\/strong>, we stayed at <strong>Harsil Retreat<\/strong> cottages next to the confluence , the <strong>Mah Prayag <\/strong>at river Bhagirathi, a beautiful village <strong>Dharali<\/strong>\u00a0the last village on Indian side on Indo-Tebitean border is about two km from <strong>Harsil <\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Rishi Markandey<\/strong> Ashram which is marked by a<strong> white temple<\/strong>\u00a0didicated to <strong>\u00a0Ma Bhagwati<\/strong> on the right banks of river <strong>Bhagirathi<\/strong> where he wrote the <strong>Durga Saptshati <\/strong>the first ever written text on the Godsess<strong> Durga . <\/strong><br \/>\n<strong><a href=\"Mahrishi Markandey Ashram near Harsil Gangotri\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/farm8.staticflickr.com\/7158\/6787519171_4515e94e3a.jpg?resize=500%2C375\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" \/><\/a><\/strong><br \/>\n<strong> A<\/strong>fter\u00a0the night stay early morning we took a car arranged for us from Uttarkashi\u00a0, road to Gangotri\u00a0is 24 Km drive along the river Bhagirathi which crosses the<strong> Asia deepest Gorge<\/strong> near<strong>\u00a0Bhairon\u00a0Ghati <\/strong>, road is good, passing through dense pine forest and Apple orchards, except for few rough patches , before the temple there is an arched gate from here the main shrine is about 600 meters this temple is at a height of 3120 meters from sea level was built by Gurkha Army commander in early 18th century. the actual source of river Ganga is at <strong>Gaumukh<\/strong> which is a climb of a beautiful 18 km trek at a height of 4120 meters the <strong>Bhagirathi glacier<\/strong> which is fed by three glaciers namely the <strong>Raktvarn<\/strong> , the <strong>Chaturangi<\/strong> and the <strong>Kirti<\/strong>\u00a0, the impressive Aarti is performed at <strong>Gangotri temple<\/strong> it is a stately affair on the banks of rushing holy river <strong>\u00a0Bhagirathi<\/strong> here, we return to <strong>Harsil<\/strong> for the night stay . <strong>Harsil<\/strong>\u00a0is beautiful landscape full of Deodar and Pine trees with <strong>apple orchards<\/strong> and nine rivers ( <strong>Jalandhari, Vishnu Ganga, Bhim\u00a0Ganga , Telangna, Lakshmi Ganga, Him Ganga, Pawan\u00a0Ganga, Khir Ganga <\/strong>and<strong>\u00a0Hatya\u00a0Harini<\/strong>\u00a0) criss crossing and joining the <strong>Bahgirathi<\/strong> to form a <strong>Maha\u00a0Prayag<\/strong> , from here there is a beautiful view of <strong>Mayank\u00a0Parwat<\/strong> and <strong>Banderpunch<\/strong> range.<br \/>\n<div style=\"width: 510px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/farm7.staticflickr.com\/6094\/6248559687_0b2d88be69.jpg?resize=500%2C375\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" \/><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Mayank Parvat<\/p><\/div><br \/>\n<img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/farm8.staticflickr.com\/7025\/6633871737_b253758027.jpg?resize=500%2C375\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" \/><br \/>\nNext morning after the early breakfast we reach the helipad at <strong>Harsil <\/strong>on the banks of river<strong>\u00a0Bhagirathi<\/strong>\u00a0it took a 45 minutes of flying over the Tehri Dam a lake a massive water body fourth largest in the world ,we change the helicopter at<strong>\u00a0Phata<\/strong> and flew over the <strong>Mandakini river<\/strong> in a narrow valley to reach <strong>Kedarnath<\/strong> situated at a height of 3553 meters surrounded by snow-capped mountains , the main temple is about 600 meters from the helipad , one is to be careful not to walk fast here because of thin air low in oxygen can result in head ache and breathlessness.<br \/>\n<div style=\"width: 510px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/farm7.staticflickr.com\/6034\/6263020977_c53fcef648.jpg?resize=500%2C375\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" \/><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">deepest Gorge in Asia near Gangotri<\/p><\/div><br \/>\n<strong>Kedarnath <\/strong>is one of the twelve <strong>Jotirlings<\/strong> of <strong>Lord Shiva<\/strong> , the present structure is built by <strong>Adi Shankarcharya<\/strong> at the site which existed at the time of <strong>Mahabharta<\/strong> , <strong>Lord Shiva<\/strong> is worshiped of his <strong>Hump<\/strong> over ground at the entrance there is a <strong>Nandi Bull<\/strong> , it is also one of the <strong>Panch\u00a0Kedars<\/strong> the body parts of Lord Shiva others are <strong>Tungnath<\/strong> , <strong>Rudranath<\/strong>, <strong>Madhmaheshwar<\/strong> and <strong>Kalpeshwer<\/strong> are in <strong>Uttrakhand<\/strong> while<strong>\u00a0Pasupatinath<\/strong>\u00a0is in Nepal. This temple is a massive rock stone structure fixed without the mortar surrounded by high snow covered\u00a0mountains standing on a plateau in a glacier , there are several Kunds (pools, tanks) are known for their religious significance &#8211; <strong>Shivkund <\/strong>, <strong>Retkund<\/strong>, <strong>Hanskund <\/strong>, <strong>Udakkund<\/strong>, <strong>Rudhirkund<\/strong> are the most important. A little away from <strong>Kedarnath<\/strong> is a temple dedicated to <strong>Bhaironathji<\/strong> who is ceremoniously worshipped at the opening &amp; closing of <strong>Kedarnath temple<\/strong> . The belief is that <strong>Bhairavnathji<\/strong> protects this land from evil during the time when temple of <strong>Kedarnath<\/strong> is closed in winters . just behind the temple is the <strong>Adi Shankaracharya samadhi<\/strong>\u00a0, it is said that after establishing the Dhams<strong> The Shankaracharya<\/strong> at the age of 33 took the &#8220;<strong>Jal Samadhi<\/strong>&#8221; here.
