\nThis place \u00a0is also known as\u00a0Khushimath\u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0is one kilometer from\u00a0Janki<\/strong>\u00a0Chatti<\/strong>\u00a0across the\u00a0River Yamuna<\/strong>. It is \u00a0not only\u00a0the winter seat of Ma Yamuna but there is \u00a0a oldest temple of Lord Shani Dev<\/strong>\u00a0who happens to be the brother of Ma Yamuna<\/strong> and \u00a0in-charge\u00a0of punishing the crooked and bad people but he also rewards the good people .

\nThis temple is very old constructed of stone and\u00a0wood without using the mortar to fix the two stone slabs\u00a0together\u00a0, an old inscription on a stone slab is in a language which is yet to be translated by the\u00a0Archaeological\u00a0Survey of\u00a0India.

Yamuna,<\/strong>\u00a0The daughter of the\u00a0Sun God (Surya<\/em>)<\/strong>\u00a0and consciousness\u00a0Chhaya<\/em>\u00a0(the Shadow)\u00a0<\/strong>she has one sister\u00a0Sangya<\/strong>, brother\u00a0Shani Dev,<\/strong>\u00a0Yamraj\u00a0.\u00a0<\/strong>Gangotri<\/strong>\u00a0as cousins . Every year around the first week of May\u00a0on\u00a0“Akshya Tritiya”,\u00a0Lord\u00a0Shani\u00a0Dev<\/strong> accompanies his sister\u00a0Yamuna<\/strong>\u00a0seven km up to Yamunotri\u00a0and returns back to\u00a0Kharsali . He<\/strong>\u00a0again meets to bring her back on the\u00a0“Bhai\u00a0Dooj”<\/strong>\u00a0or\u00a0“Yam<\/strong>\u00a0Dwetiya” two days after Diwali\u00a0<\/strong>it is also a day for Yamuna to meet her brother\u00a0Yamraj<\/strong>. ( Lord of taking away the spirits after death).

\nWho built this temple here at Kharsali,<\/strong>\u00a0an\u00a0inscription\u00a0on stone<\/strong>\u00a0on its wall could not be translated till now, locals believe it\u00a0is constructed by the\u00a0Pandavas<\/strong>, looks more like\u00a0fort,\u00a0it is a\u00a0stone and wooden four\u00a0story structure<\/strong>. The main structure is constructed in a way by using stones, wood\u00a0the\u00a0Urad dal<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0or\u00a0Vigna\u00a0mungo (<\/strong>botanical name\u00a0Lens culinaris)<\/a><\/strong><\/em>\u00a0is used as a part of mortar to fix the stones together. It has faced the mighty earthquakes and floods with no damage to the building since immortal time. One can climb up through a narrow stairs, the main Bronze idol of\u00a0Lord Shani Dev<\/strong>\u00a0is kept here along with the\u00a0Chaaya<\/strong>\u00a0(the Shadow<\/strong>),\u00a0the Sangya<\/strong>\u00a0(the conciseness<\/strong>) and\u00a0the Nag Devta<\/strong>, there are\u00a0two urns<\/strong>\u00a0one big and one small are\u00a0 kept and no one touches them because of any unforeseen danger to self or family, there is a belief\u00a0that these\u00a0Urns<\/strong>\u00a0change their position themselves on\u00a0Purnima<\/strong>\u00a0(Full moon night) and\u00a0Amawasya<\/strong>\u00a0(Dark night)\u00a0the\u00a0Yamuna Idol<\/strong>\u00a0is kept during the winters on the first floor.
