It is at a height of 1890 meters from sea on the Rishikesh &#8211; Badrinath \u00a0highway 220 km from<strong> Rishikesh<\/strong> and<strong> Badrinath<\/strong> is further 42 \u00a0km, it is situated at the confluence of river <strong>Alaknanda<\/strong> and \u00a0<strong>Dhauli Ganga<\/strong> the Vishnu Prayag. This town is also the winter seat of<strong> Sri Badrinath<\/strong> at the <strong>Vasudeva Temple,\u00a0<\/strong>other important temples are the<strong> Lord Narshimha<\/strong> the incarnation of<strong> lord Vishnu<\/strong>, <strong>the Hanumaan<\/strong> , <strong>the Gaurishankar<\/strong>, <strong>the Ganesha<\/strong>, <strong>the Nau Devi<\/strong> and<strong> the Surya<\/strong> .<br \/>\n<strong>Around Joshimath<\/strong><br \/>\nThis place is famous for base camp for many treks , <strong>Auli<\/strong> is at 3940 meters from sea level , from<strong> Joshimath<\/strong> there is a Asia&#8217;s longest 4 km Ropeway to reach here , it\u00a0has the famous Ski slopes beautiful views of <strong>Nanda Devi peak<\/strong> , <strong>Mana<\/strong> and<strong> Kamet<\/strong> also a\u00a0close view of the <strong>peak Hathi Ghora Palki<\/strong> and behind it the <strong>Neelkanth<\/strong>. \u00a0There are many trekking routes starts from here , <strong>the Gorson<\/strong>, <strong>Tali<\/strong> and <strong>Kauri<\/strong> <strong>Pass<\/strong>, <strong>Khulara<\/strong> and\u00a0<strong>Tapovan<\/strong>.<strong>\u00a0Valley of Flowers<\/strong>\u00a0can be reached from here upto<strong> Govindghat<\/strong> by road and the trek 14 kms to <strong>Ghangharia<\/strong> and then three km trek to the <strong>Valley of Flowers<\/strong>, from <strong>Ghangharia<\/strong> <strong>the Hemkund sahib<\/strong> the famous <strong>Sikh shrine<\/strong> and a temple dedicated to <strong>Laxman<\/strong> the younger brother of<strong> Lord Ram<\/strong> is situated , it is the place where<strong> Tenth Sikh Guru Gobind Singh Ji<\/strong> meditated in his previous birth which he mentioned in his book <strong>Bichitra Natak.<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0<strong>Nanda Devi National Park<\/strong> is 24 km from here.
