For many\u00a0centenaries\u00a0various trade routes took merchants to China, Tibet, and Central Asia. <strong>Renchen Shah of Leh<\/strong> moved into Kashmir via this pass and was the<strong> ruler of the territory in the 14th century<\/strong>.<strong> Mirza Haider Doughlat<\/strong> also marched on through this pass to raid Kashmir.<strong> The previous name of the pass was Shurji La, which stands for the mountain of Lord Shiva<\/strong>.<br \/>\n<div style=\"width: 510px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/farm8.staticflickr.com\/7200\/6917804977_3cc0534ae1.jpg?resize=500%2C375\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" \/><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Rock called the India Gate , entrance to Kashmir valley Zoji-la<\/p><\/div><br \/>\n<strong>Zoji-la<\/strong> , at a height of 3,528 meters, which \u00a0is the lowest drivable pass on the Great Himalayan Mountain Range. It witnesses violent winds \u00a0because of the conical shape and severe snowfall. <strong>Over 60 risky landslide spots<\/strong> have been identified on this route. Every year the young enthusiast \u00a0motor\u00a0cyclist from all over India cross this pass with a high adventure\u00a0spirit to visit the Ladakh from Kashmir side.<br \/>\nHistorically this pass <strong>till 1815 was in\u00a0control\u00a0of Amir of Afghanistan<\/strong> as Punjab Hill States,<strong> it came under Maharaja Ranjit Singh&#8217;s Flag of a Sikh state<\/strong> ,<strong> in 1846<\/strong> after the Anglo-Sikh war the East India Company and Sikh Empire had a <strong>Treaty of \u00a0Lahore<\/strong> , as an\u00a0indemnity the Sikh State could not pay then Rs.1.2 Million , the Dogra King\u00a0\u00a0was allowed to take Kashmir by paying Rs. 750 Thousand to East India Company , Gulab Singh became the first Maharaja of a new state of Jamu &amp; Kashmir.
