It was abandoned after the 1819 AD strong earthquake which changed the flow of <strong>\u00a0Sindhu (Indus) River <\/strong>\u00a0towards further North and a natural dam known as the <strong>Allahbund<\/strong> \u00a0was formed due to which the\u00a0<strong>Great Rann<\/strong> got dried up . It is in\u00a0north-west corner of Kutch is an almost<strong> dilapidated old town that speaks of a glorious past.\u00a0Lakhpat<\/strong>, the literal meaning of which is\u00a0<strong>city of millionaires<\/strong>\u00a0is now nothing, but a small village that is inhabited by a few hundreds and serves as<strong> an outpost of the India\u00a0Border Security Force ( BSF) facing Pakistan. <\/strong>If weather is clear one can see the\u00a0notorious<strong> Harami Nalah <\/strong>from the post<strong> .\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\n<div style=\"width: 510px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/farm8.staticflickr.com\/7378\/12046412694_aa43996cf2.jpg?resize=500%2C333\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"333\" \/><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Bhuj waro Nako , Entrance Lakhpat town , Kutch, Gujarat<\/p><\/div><br \/>\n<strong>Lakhpat<\/strong>\u00a0is surrounded by a 7 km fortified wall , believed to have been built by<strong>\u00a0Rao\u00a0Lakhpatji\u00a0<\/strong>in the middle of the\u00a018th\u00a0century and extended further\u00a0under the supervision of the<strong>\u00a0Army Commander Fatheh Mohmmad<\/strong>\u00a0in 1801 AD.\u00a0to defend the kingdom as well as the port from invasions by<strong>\u00a0Sindhi rulers<\/strong>, the walls of the fort are still intact for the most part. The<strong>\u00a0Bhuj Waro Nako<\/strong>\u00a0, gate opens towards<strong>\u00a0Bhuj<\/strong>\u00a0, collection on Toll both here \u00a0from the \u00a0visitors and traders was <strong>1 Lakh Kori to the Lakhpat town<\/strong> , it was well guarded by soldiers.\u00a0Near\u00a0<strong>Lakhpat<\/strong>\u00a0was\u00a0<strong>Koteri (Kotri)<\/strong>\u00a0a landing place on the bank of river\u00a0<strong>\u00a0Sindhu (<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>Indus )<\/strong>\u00a0where \u00a0ferryboats regularly sailed , \u00a0loaded with cattle and merchandise. From Koteri, the goods were transported on camels to the eastern part of the<strong>\u00a0Indus delta<\/strong>, and distributed throughout the inhabited districts of the Thar.<br \/>\n&nbsp;<br \/>\n<img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/farm4.staticflickr.com\/3790\/12046324063_5de65abe6c.jpg?resize=500%2C333\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"333\" \/><\/p>\n<dl id=\"\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\" style=\"width: 510px\">\n<dd class=\"wp-caption-dd\">Lakhpat , fortified walls , Rann Kutch Kori creek side<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<p><strong>Guru Nanak Dev ji<\/strong> stayed at <strong>Lakhpat<\/strong>\u00a0 during his<strong> trips to Mecca and Medina (Saudi Arabia)<\/strong>. This place was a <strong>\u00a0seat of the Udasi Panth until 1972 under the Last Sevadar Baba Mool Dass Hari Dass<\/strong> .<strong>\u00a0( Udasi Panth \u00a0was founded by Sri Chand son of Guru Nanak Dev Ji<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0) . Rare treasures are \u00a0preserved \u00a0including the <strong>&#8220;Charan Paduka&#8221; &#8211; Khadvas (wooden footwear) that belonged to Guru Nanak Dev ji.<\/strong> \u00a0The present structure is plastered and painted but old wooden doors, pillars and roof are intact and converted into a Gurudwara , there are few lines scripted in LariGurmukhi on walls, it came out when layers of plaster was removed, this script is no more in use. In 16th century it was an\u00a0important departure point for Muslims making Hajj to Medina and Mecca\u00a0\u00a0at that time<strong> Lakhpat<\/strong>\u00a0was known as<strong> &#8220;Basta\u00a0Bander&#8221;<\/strong><br \/>\n<div style=\"width: 510px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/farm8.staticflickr.com\/7310\/12046867996_317840b892.jpg?resize=500%2C333\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"333\" \/><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Gurudwara Lakhpat , Kutch, Gujarat<\/p><\/div><br \/>\nA<strong> Sufi Saint Pir Gaus Mohammad\u00a0equally respected by Hindu and Muslim community<\/strong>\u00a0A Thirteenth Hijra century poet- lived in Lakhpat, Kutch, Sindh.
