It is <strong>the first Joyotirlinam on the earth<\/strong> . There are two more <strong>Jyotirlings<\/strong> with same name as the place described in the<strong> Vamana<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>Puran \u00a0and Shiva Puran (old texts ) the Daruka Vana<\/strong> means the<strong> forest of Deodar Trees<\/strong>\u00a0which grows at a height of 2000 mtrs. and above in<strong> Himalayas\u00a0<\/strong>and<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0suppose\u00a0to be\u00a0a place called<strong> Jageshwar in Uttrakhand . <\/strong>The second place is<strong> Anudha in Satpura Hills of\u00a0Maharashtra state\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\nLegend about the discovery of this place is, during their <strong>Vanavasa<\/strong> period <strong>Pandavas<\/strong> reached this place and they saw \u00a0a cow flows its milk every day from its fodder into a lake on its own volition. The Pandavas doubted a divine presence , all five brothers \u00a0emptied the water from the lake and started \u00a0digging \u00a0it. To their surprise a<strong> Shiva Lingam<\/strong> emerged out of it and they constructed a temple here , the present temple is a new structure over the old one .<br \/>\nLegend according to<strong> Shiv Purana<\/strong>, a devotee of <strong>Lord Shiva<\/strong> ,\u00a0<b>Supriya<\/b>\u00a0 a merchant while travelling \u00a0in a boat was attacked by a demon\u00a0<b>Daaruka<\/b>.
