Shiv Khori<\/strong> is situated in Jammu & Kashmir<\/strong> state and one can combine it with Mata Vaisno Devi<\/strong> Pilgrimage, it is located about 80 Kms from Katra<\/strong>, 140 kms from Jammu<\/strong> and 120 kms from Udhampur<\/strong> upto Ransoo village<\/strong> and then 3 Kms trek to the holy cave<\/strong>. Regular buses and taxis are available at rates approved by the J&K Tourism Department, from Katra<\/strong>, Jammu<\/strong> and Udhampur<\/strong>. Pilgrims may also travel from Jammu\u00a0on Akhnoor-Bhambla\u00a0Road<\/strong>, Ransoo<\/strong> is 6 kms from Kanda More<\/strong> (turn)\u00a0on Reasi- Rajouri Road<\/strong>.

\nThe Starting Point of Shiv Khori Pilgrimage Trek<\/p>\n

The Cave<\/h2>\n

This cave <\/strong>which was discovered about 100 years ago<\/strong> by the local\u00a0shepherds\u00a0is more than a kilometer long but pilgrims are allowed upto\u00a0150 meters, it has two chambers, outer chamber is little large and after crossing a narrow and low passage, one enters the inner chamber which is comparably smaller, the cave is illuminated and pilgrims take help of ropes to walk and even at places one has to crawl to move ahead in the chamber, there\u00a0\u00a0is four feet tall natural Syambhu Shiva Lingam<\/strong> which\u00a0bathes in a milky water dripping from the ceiling of the cave, \u00a0just above the Lingam is a\u00a0structure which gives impression of Kamdhenu Cow<\/strong>,\u00a0one can even recognize the structure near the Lingam Goddess Parvati<\/strong>, the other deities are Lord Ganesha<\/strong>, Lord Kartikeyen<\/strong>, Lord Hanuman<\/strong>, Lord Ram<\/strong>, Laxman<\/strong> and Sita<\/strong> even one can recognize Sheshnag<\/strong> here, in the center there is a hollow structure giving impression of Lord Shiva’s Jattas<\/strong>, all these are sourrounded by self made Shaligrams<\/strong> in the cave, pilgrims call it a Home of GODS<\/strong>, it is a miracle.

\nThe demon Bhasmasur<\/strong> meditated and pleased Lord Shiva,\u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0received the blessings that “If he put his hand palm on any ones head, that person will die<\/em>“,\u00a0to test this Bhasmasur<\/strong> wanted to put his palm on Lord Shiva’s head,\u00a0and had a battle,\u00a0Lord Shiva to save himself \u00a0threw his Trident<\/strong> ( Trishul<\/strong>) which created this cave, along with Devi Parvati<\/strong> and Nandi Bull<\/strong> entered , leaving behind Bhasmasur<\/strong>, \u00a0Lord Vishnu<\/strong> who visualized the ill designs\u00a0came here, disguised as Apsra<\/strong>, lured\u00a0Bhasmasur<\/strong> to dance to her\u00a0steps, each step and move was so planed that finally Apsra<\/strong> (Lord Vishnu<\/strong>) made him to put his palm on his own head thus killing the Bhasmasur of his own powers, after this dance and killing, Lord Vishnu entered the cave along with other Devtas, it is said that 330 million Devtas<\/strong> are in this cave lying as Shaligrams<\/strong> and Pindis<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Around Shivkhori<\/h2>\n

Around Shivkhori<\/strong> one can visit the shrine,\u00a0Dera Baba Banda Bahadur<\/strong>, the army commander of Shri Guru Gobind Singh<\/strong> Ji about 20 kms from here on the banks of River Chenab<\/strong>.
\nNau Pindian<\/strong>, this is about 9 kms from Katra<\/strong> on same road to Reasi<\/strong>, there is a natural formation dedicated to the Nine incarnations<\/strong> (Avatars) of Maa Shakti<\/strong> in the form of Pindi<\/strong>.
\nDhansar Baba<\/strong>, this place is about 10 kms from Katra , 17 kms before Reasi , off the main road\u00a0trek for 1 km, it is\u00a0a natural formation of Shiva Lingam<\/strong> and natural dropping of water on the lingam.

Other Places<\/h2>\n

Siar Baba<\/strong> situated on the banks of River Chenab<\/strong> near Talwara<\/strong> about 6 kms from Reasi<\/strong>, famous for its\u00a0beautiful waterfall<\/strong>.
\nKalka mandir<\/strong> is just near the bus stand of Reasi.
\nBhimgarh Fort<\/strong>, it is also known as Reasi Fort<\/strong>, originally constructed of clay but later it was reconstructed using stone, the main entry gate is having Rajasthani carvings<\/strong>, there is a statue of Goddess Maha Kali<\/strong> and Lord Hanuman Ji<\/strong>, there is a water pond<\/strong> and a temple<\/strong> in the fort and rooms. This fort though small in size was built by Maharaja Gulab Singh<\/strong> in 1817 when he was the commander of Sikh Maharaja Ranjit Singh<\/strong> under the supervision of General Zoravar Singh<\/strong> who was responsible for driving the Chinese out of Ladakh.
